Origins
In 2005, Keating Educational Tours noted that curriculum was moving away from the traditional Socratic method of teaching and moving towards more active and dynamic learning to meet students with different learning styles. That same year, Quebec City passed a bylaw requiring that all tour guides within the walls of Quebec City be licensed by the city.
In response, Keating Tours reevaluated how we present the history of Canada’s oldest city to our students. We wanted to make students active participants in telling the story of this great city; without compromising accuracy or quality of information.
The solution was our one-of-a-kind animations programme. By becoming famous characters and participating in skits, songs, games, and other activities, the students themselves told the living history of Quebec City. After rave reviews, this program was adopted in Ottawa and Montreal.
Today
We are constantly seeking to enhance our animations programme. Each year, the feedback of our guides and teachers is taken into consideration as we revise our animations in Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City.
We are constantly adding to our animations, and ensuring that they are engaging our students. Our animations are dynamic. Our goals remain to make the animations fun, accurate, relevant, educational, and participatory. It is the students themselves who bring the cities to life, making them the best tour guides we could find!
