DAY ONE
Morning: On route to Ottawa, an optional stop can be made in Kingston for a guided tour of Fort Henry or in Morrisburg for a visit at Upper Canada Village (extra).
Afternoon: Arrive in the National Capital Region. Visit the Museum of Civilization where students participate in a facts-finding rally in the History Hall and live the excitement of an Omnimax
film. Afterwards, check into the hotel.
Evening: Choose from a buffet Tex-Mex dinner at Lone Star Ranch with western activities or a guided tour of the mid 19th century Carleton Jail where you hear tales of strange occurrences and ghostly visitations (extra). Ranch is free-of-charge if booked prior to October 31.
DAY TWO
Morning: An animated walking tour of downtown Ottawa including the Byward Market, Major Hill Park, Parliament Hill, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Peace Keeping Monument. Afterwards, visit the National Gallery of Canada.
Afternoon: Lunch at the Byward Market or Sparks Street Mall, followed by shopping if time permits. Guided tour of Centre Block, Canada’s House of Parliament, including the House of Commons, the Senate, the Hall of Honour, the Library of Parliament and the Peace Tower. Groups may wish to attend Question Period or meet with their Member of
Parliament.
Afterwards, there’s an Orienteering Rally of the statues and monuments on Parliament Hill. Schools can opt to visit either the Supreme Court or Rideau Hall before returning to freshen up for dinner.
Evening: The highlight of the tour for the students is the Keating dance. Beginning with a buffet dinner the evening continues with Karaoke and special activities.
DAY THREE
Morning: Your Keating guide leads the students through the exclusive Rockcliffe neighborhood filled with foreign embassies and ambassadorial homes. Schools can choose to visit either the Aviation Museum or the War Museum. War Museum is no charge if trip is booked before October 30.
Afternoon: There is still time for last minute sightseeing or picture taking before leaving for home.
