Guides

Our Tour Guides are the pride of our company. We pay extra close attention to the individual guide and have them go through an intense training well before sending them on the road. This section of the website was designed for anyone interested in applying to become a guide as well as general information on who our guides are.

Our Guides
It takes an individual with strength, stamina, and leadership to fulfill the role of a Tour Guide. Keating Tour Guides are carefully chosen post-secondary students from Ontario and Québec who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They share a passion for working with young people and motivating and involving them in a positive learning environment.

Background of the Guides
Every year we receive hundreds of applications. The Guides we hire are mature, well-rounded individuals with special skills in history, geography, French, and other job-related fields. Our Guides are also experienced in dealing with students, and undergo rigorous training in preparation for their role.

Role of Guide
Guides work with the teachers to ensure a positive outcome for the trip. They stimulate discussion, answer questions, and highlight points of interest while simultaneously monitoring details of the tour, including the itinerary, meals and accommodations. Finally, the tour experience strives to support independent thinking, giving students a chance to budget their spending money, and encouraging them to discover the flavours of their destination in restaurants, both traditional and modern.

Destination Representatives
Keating has representatives stationed in Ottawa, Montréal and Québec City that regularly monitor hotels, restaurants and attractions. They work closely with both our suppliers and the Guides to ensure your trip runs smoothly, and are on hand to resolve any issues promptly.
